BASEL LIFE 2018 will take place from the 11th to the 14th of September. The aim is to organize a themed scientific meeting of the highest international level, broad enough to interest students and postdocs across Europe, but focused on one or two emerging fields each year, to make it attractive for world leaders in that particular area of research . The targeted audience will come from both academia and industry. Particular emphasis will be placed on supporting young researchers. In addition to travel fellowships, spinout sessions will be offered to allow young researchers to have in depth discussions with leading scientists and industry representatives. Also, young researchers will have the opportunity to present posters and apply for flash talks. BASEL LIFE 2018 will be complemented by a Job Fair, offering a chance for students and postdocs to meet with industry representatives. BASEL LIFE will also serve as a platform for other high quality scientific meetings, such as the Basel bioinformatics meeting.
Below figure shows the overall concept of BASEL LIFE. The concept of “BASEL LIFE” is based on four pillars: science, technology, exhibition and job fair. Each is represented in an event with global appeal. The target audiences of BASEL LIFE are academics, students and postdocs as well as members of the pharmaceutical industry and biotech companies. The combined MipTec, Innovation Forums, Job Fair and EMBO at BASEL LIFE expects to attract over 2,500 participants in 2018, mainly from Europe, but also from further afield.
